Mata Vai Rahi is located on a subtle hill just outside of Easter Island’s only town, Hanga Roa. Mata Vai Rahi sits on five quiet acres just far enough away from street & town, amidst a tropical garden of palm, avocado, banana trees, taro plants, and island flowers to maintain privacy. At the same time, it is conveniently located just a short 5 to 10 minute walk from town and all of its artisan shops, mercados, almacens, restaurants, discotheques and beaches.
Mata Vai Rahi was built twelve years ago upon the foundation of my father Jose Pate Pakomio’s family home. I am Hanana, the youngest of his nine children, and the host of Mata Vai Rahi. Nearly 30 years ago I left the island with my American husband, and returned in 1995 to establish this retirement residency for myself and my children. I would like to open my island home & hospitality to anyone interested in visiting the island. My daughter and I are presently maintaining the property. We provide superior service, quality care, and are impeccably clean, kind and friendly.
Mata Vai Rahi is my home. The property itself is made up of a four bedroom house with two bathrooms, a three bedroom house with two bathrooms and two efficiency units each with their own private bathrooms. All are equipped with fully functional modern conveniences and furnishings. All have running hot and cold water, microwaves, TVs, refrigerators, indoor bathrooms with tiled showers, modern kitchen and access to a large capacity whirlpool washer.
When you arrive, I will be waiting for you at the airport, and you can expect to be greeted in a warm and gracious manner with a flowers. From there, we will head to Mata Vai Rahi where we will have a snack and beverages. The morning of departure I will transport you back to the airport where we will wish you a safe and comfortable trip home in the traditional Rapa Nui way.

$50.00 Deposit Fee - In order to provde you with the best rooms we need to make sure you are sincere in your desire to stay with us. If you come and decide not to stay with us the room has lost an opportunitiy to be rented. Deposit is collected either by paypal or personal check and sent to US contact.
